Provide State-of-the-Art, Shariah-Compliant education; to nurture individuals with strong Islamic morals and character, that can make a difference to their communities and humanity in general, by serving as role models of excellence, integrity and humility.
Our Tarbiah Model
Someone asked my father (Mufti Muhammad Shafi), what is Dar-ul Uloom’s tarbiah program; his answer was: “We try our best to ensure that all teachers and administrators at the Dar-ul Uloom fulfill all the commandments of Allah, according to the Sunnah of His Rasul (SAW), to the best of our abilities. That’s our tarbiah program.”

Our Educational Philosophy
“Schooling is all about children; it starts and ends with them. Alhamdullilah, with a lot of effort, we have developed a team, based on mutual respect and Islamic ‘khuluq’. Good teachers have strong egos, and hence respect is a must. This team, in collaboration with parents, then must strive to develop individuals that can:
* affect and not be affected by the environment,
* understand the problems of the world around them,
* and yet offer solutions in light of the teachings of our Deen.”
– Dr. Afia Arif, Principal, Scholastic
When Dr Arif Zaman and I started Scholastic Islamiah in 2007, our primary objective was to have a ‘State-of-the-Art, Shariah Compliant’ school for our children. Thirteen years later , our intention in running Scholastic is still the same, except that now it’s for our grandchildren. The other thing that has changed over the ten years, is that earlier we were very apprehensive about being able to deliver on competitive quality of instruction in the classroom. Alhamdolillah , thirteen years later we now know that with the help of Allah, this has not been a major issue at all (if O-Level grades are a good proxy for quality of instruction). Not only us, but also other established Islamic Schools in Lahore, have been able to do well in this dimension. Research articles from Stanford and other reputable institutions have confirmed that not only in Lahore, but all over the world , religious schools do much better in academic performance than conventional schools.
Today our biggest worry and concern is ‘tarbiah’ of our students. How to ensure that our graduates are confident individuals with strong Islamic morals and character, even five years after they graduate from Scholastic. For this we need Allah’s help foremost, and then a serious collaborative effort between our teachers, parents and the administration.”
